Role Description

A Networks Engineer is required to join a fast-paced IT division to facilitate and enhance the IT Networks within Allica bank.

As the Networks Engineer, you will have responsibility for creating stable, secure, and performant networks across the organisation.

Adopting a mindset of continuous improvement, your experience will also feed into the wider strategy of enhancing the bank’s IT platforms further.

Allica IT uses an Infrastructure as Code mantra, giving the opportunity to write scripts and systems using latest technologies.

The Networks Engineer role will focus on network design and delivery focussing on enabling service delivery across multiple teams adhering to high quality secure networking practices.

This position is remote-based.

Principal Accountabilities

Primary responsibilities will include the design/planning, management, support, and oversight of the cloud environment networking. You will be responsible for any networking requirements associated with cloud compute, including design, planning, management maintenance and support.

• Working with the Platform Engineering team to implement and maintain a secure network within the bank
• Implementation and Management of Cloud network infrastructure and services
• Firewalls including creation and maintenance of access policies and rules
• Experience using and implementing Software Defined Networking (SDN)
• Experience using Azure load balancer technologies
• Configuration and management of the Cloud network using Azure services
• Troubleshoot connectivity and security issues within the cloud architecture
• Automating network creation and configuration using Terraform and Ansible adopting Infrastructure as Code
• Improve site reliability through monitoring and alerting
• Document designs and provide instructions on confluence
• Working with VPN technology for Remote Access services and implementing site 2 site connectivity.
• MTLS Knowledge would be beneficial.

Personal Attributes & Experience

Switching/Routing experience (Ideally minimum CCNA/JNCIA level)

Firewall experience (Preferably experience with URL filtering/Proxy in addition to Layer 7 policy Implementations)

Scripting experience for IAC (Terraform / Ansible etc…)

Experience of using Azure cloud native services (GCP Knowledge would be beneficial)

Understanding and experience using Azure DevOps

Strong analytical skills

Strong Communication and problem-solving skills

Thirst to learn new technologies and skills

Microsoft AZ-104 and/or AZ-700 desirable

Palo Alto Network PNCSA certification desirable

Previous experience with wireless networks (preferably Meraki)
