Our client is a global sports agency with more than 600 staff across Europe, the US and Melbourne. Their focus is driving growth for sports properties by delivering deeper connections with fans through the intelligent use of data and technology. They work with some of the biggest sports organisations in Australia and around the world including the AFL, Cricket Australia, NFL, Premier League Football, Formula 1 and Wimbledon.
Central to their strategy is leveraging data to enhance clients' understanding of their customers and provide insights that guide strategic decision-making. They develop digital products designed to increase audiences and revenue across ticketing, participation, sponsorship, and media.
As the product team continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Senior Native IOS Engineer to join our client’s Melbourne office. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality IOS applications for their sports industry clients. You will be instrumental in establishing cross-functional engineering practices, tools, and culture as our team grows.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other developers, to create innovative and user-friendly mobile experiences for sports fans worldwide. This role requires a deep understanding of IOS development, a passion for clean code, and the ability to deliver robust solutions in a fast-paced environment.
We are looking for a team player who is able to mentor and up-skill other engineers whilst setting the bar for best practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Engineering Managers, Engineering Leads and Product Managers to understand problems and define technical scope for global sports properties.
- You will be hands on, building and delivering best in class mobile applications for clients and fans whilst encompassing and establishing best practice in coding standards.
- Leading and influencing the design of software architecture both in house and alongside clients.
- You will be active in the hiring of other Software Engineers whilst helping refine and improve the process.
- Being an advocate for developer experience and a keen interest in continually improving it.
- Encouraging a blameless culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- This is a hybrid role where you are expected to be in our Melbourne office for 2 days a week and occasionally travel to client offices in Melbourne and other locations by request.
Skills:
- A minimum of 5+ years experience in IOS development.
- A high level of proficiency and understanding in Swift, SwiftUI and / or UIKit
- Verse in package management with SPM and CocoaPods
- Experience in a CI / CD environment where you have utilised tools such as Circle CI, GitHub actions or Azure DevOps etc.
- Experience in agile development practices, continuous integration and test automation via various methods such as unit, integration, contract and E2E testing.
- You have experience in monitoring the performance and analytics of your applications with tools like Firebase, Sentry, Mix Panel, Google Analytics etc.
- A strong desire and advocate for performant applications.
- A flair for simplicity when problem solving.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate to a variety of audiences to explain your solutions and collaborate effectively with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Interest in sports and the sports business.
