Senior Java Software Engineer

About the job:

pawaTech is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with an inherent passion for teamwork and a collaborative spirit. You will join our Sports Gateway team in developing our APIs systems. You will play a pivotal role in optimising backend APIs for a high-load project, leading the development of APIs, and actively participating in the technical community to create a collaborative work environment.

The main responsibilities will be:

• Develop and optimise backend APIs for frontend and mobile integration;
• Manage sportsbook and betting feature integration and functionality;
• Maintain cache infrastructure for high-load performance;
• Improve and configure APIs, focusing on efficient data delivery;
• Collaborate on replacing existing systems with new solutions;
• Maintain life-streaming and ensure authorisation with integration;
• Create team-specific APIs tailored to unique needs;
• Integrate third-party services for sportsbook and sports feeds;
• Active participation in sprint tasks and ownership of epics;
• Lead subdomain projects;
• Engage in technical community discussions and contributions;
• Foster a positive and collaborative team atmosphere.

Key skills and experience for this role:

• Solid knowledge of Java and the Spring framework;
• Proven experience in backend software development;
• Experience with micro-service and distributed systems;
• Confident understanding of design patterns (BFF), data structures, and cache;
• Experience with SQL and noSQL (MongoDB);
• Team player with good communication skills.

Good to have:

• Understanding and practising TDD, DDD, and SOLID;
• Experience with gRPC;
• Experience with Kafka/Redis;
• Experience with CI/CD (GitHub Actions);
• Experience with Kubernetes.
