Data Scientist

Data Scientist:

For one of our globally leading tech clients we are urgently looking for an experienced Data Scientist for a long contract based in Amsterdam.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business problems and propose optimization-based solutions.
• Develop, test, and deploy optimization models using solvers such as Gurobi, CPLEX, or COIN-OR.
• Write clean, object-oriented Python code adhering to software development best practices.
• Develop and deploy RESTful APIs to serve optimization model results and related analytics.
• Work with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL) to fetch and manipulate data.
• Integrate and monitor deployed models in production environments, using CI/CD pipelines, Git, and Docker.
• Utilize cloud services (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) for model deployment and data processing tasks.
• Use Jira for task management and VSCode or PyCharm for development and debugging.
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
• 4+ years of hands-on experience in operations research roles within enterprise/commercial settings.
• Strong proficiency in Python with experience in object-oriented programming and clean coding principles.
• Expertise with at least one OR solver (Gurobi preferred, or CPLEX/COIN-OR).
• Experience in developing and industrializing applications in production environments.
• Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to adapt your messaging to different audiences.
• Proactive, independent, and solution-oriented working style.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with discrete-event simulation tools or techniques.
• Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and basic cloud architecture.
• Data visualization skills (e.g., using Plotly, Matplotlib, or Dash) are a plus.
• Experience writing tests for both business logic and API endpoints (e.g., using pytest, unittest, Postman).
• Ability to create REST APIs that interact with databases and return processed/aggregated data.
• Familiarity with software engineering practices like version control, code reviews, and agile development.
