Software Engineer

Aura is a seed-stage wellness start-up building an AI-powered tool to help consumers better navigate lab testing, diagnostics, and health optimisation. We're starting with a service that provides personalised health recommendations based on user symptoms, history, and health goals and helps users make sense of their results and take clear next steps to feel better.

We're looking for a hands-on full-stack (generalist) engineer with strong mobile and web skills – someone excited about building early-stage companies and shipping features that users love.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain React Native mobile app for iOS and Android
• Build backend infrastructure on AWS/GCP including services, APIs, and databases
• Integrate third-party health data APIs from hospitals and labs
• Implement security best practices for sensitive health data
• Collaborate with CTO/CPO on technical architecture and product decisions

Qualifications

• 3+ years full-stack development experience, preferably at startups
• Strong problem-solving and coding skills
• Experience with AI coding tools (Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, MCP)
• Proficient in React Native, Expo, and mobile development
• Solid coding ability in Kotlin, Swift, Objective-C, C++
• Backend experience with databases, APIs, and cloud services (AWS/GCP)
• Deep understanding of US healthcare market and HIPAA compliance
• Excellent English communication skills (our team operates in English)
• Passionate about health technology and helping people improve their health
• AI/ML integration or health tech platform experience is a plus
