Embedded Engineer – TinyML for Environmental Sensing Systems
Environmental Tech | Embedded AI | TinyML | IoT
Are you ready to make embedded AI work for the planet?
We're hiring on behalf of a leading environmental tech company looking for an Embedded Engineer with experience in TinyML to develop intelligent, ultra-low-power sensing devices. Based in Galway, with flexibility for hybrid or remote work, this role offers the opportunity to build real-world solutions that monitor and respond to environmental changes in real time — all while running entirely at the edge.
You’ll be joining a mission-driven engineering team creating compact, energy-efficient systems for air quality, noise, temperature, and vibration monitoring across smart city and remote infrastructure projects.
What You’ll Do:
• Design and deploy TinyML models for microcontrollers and edge AI chips
• Develop firmware in C/C++ and Python for platforms like STM32, nRF52, or similar
• Integrate environmental sensors into embedded systems with ultra-low-power requirements
• Apply model compression (quantization, pruning) for efficient on-device inference
• Collaborate across hardware, data science, and firmware teams to ensure system-level robustness
Your Background:
• Solid experience with TinyML frameworks (e.g., TFLite Micro, CMSIS-NN, Edge Impulse)
• Strong grasp of embedded systems and low-power firmware development
• Familiarity with RTOS platforms (FreeRTOS, Zephyr) and real-time data handling
• Understanding of signal acquisition from environmental sensors
• Bonus: Passion for sustainability, environmental monitoring, or smart cities
