About the Role

We’re hiring a Lead PHP Engineer for a global leader in sports and e-commerce innovation. You’ll lead a high-performing technology team, delivering scalable, high-quality software solutions using Symfony, Laravel, and Node.js, and shaping system architecture that powers world-class online shopping experiences across a diverse portfolio of sporting brands.

This is a permanent, full-time role, ideal for someone who thrives on ownership, enjoys mentoring and managing developers, and is excited to drive technical excellence across products used by customers across the UK and internationally.

What You’ll Be Doing
Leading and actively contributing to hands-on development within a Scrum-based team to deliver scalable, high-quality software solutions
Managing and mentoring developers through line management, goal setting, performance reviews, and Personal Development Plans (PDPs)
Designing and implementing scalable, maintainable system architectures that balance monolithic and microservices approaches
Delivering high-quality features using PHP, Symfony, Laravel, Node.js, and MySQL within the first development sprint
Setting up or improving CI/CD pipelines, code review processes, and testing practices (Docker, Git, TDD, BDD)

Must-Have & Desired Skills
Symfony (required)
Laravel (required)
Experience working in a senior or lead engineering role (required)
Node.js (nice to have)
