PowerBI Engineer

Role Expectations:

• Design, develop, and deploy Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data sources, business needs, and report requirements.

• Implement advanced analytics and visualizations, utilizing Power BI’s capabilities such as DAX, Power Query, and Power Pivot.

• Ensure the data model is optimized for performance and scalability.

• Provide ad-hoc reporting and data analysis support to business teams.

• Troubleshoot, test, and optimize reports for performance and accuracy.

• Develop and maintain automated data refresh schedules to ensure data consistency.

• Ensure data security and governance policies are adhered to.

• Create user documentation and train business users on Power BI tools and reports.

• Stay updated on Power BI best practices, features, and updates.

• Proven experience (3+ years) in developing Power BI reports dashboards, and data models.

• Strong understanding of data modeling, relational databases, and data warehousing concepts.

• Proficiency in DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Desktop/Service.

• Experience in data integration from multiple sources (SQL Server, Excel, cloud services, etc.).

• Ability to analyze and interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.

• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders.

Desired Skills:

• Microsoft Power BI certification (preferred).

• Experience with Azure Data Services (Azure SQL, Azure Synapse Analytics)

• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and version control tools (Git, etc.).

Nice to have:

• Develop and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines to integrate data from various sources into Power BI.

• IBM Certified Administrator - Spectrum Scale (GPFS) with expertise in GPFS.

• Experience with other BI tools such as Tableau, Qlik, etc. is a plus.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.

• Knowledge of ETL processes and tools. Knowledge of Python/R for data analysis (optional).
