About the Company:

Midas is the fintech arm of Tencent Games, providing a robust third-party marketplace, payment processing, and billing infrastructure for Tencent-owned and invested game studios globally.

Midas Europe, headquartered in the Netherlands, is a DNB-licensed Payment Institution (PI) and serves as the central hub for Tencent’s EEA payment operations. The entity aggregates payment services, manages client funds under regulatory supervision, and ensures compliance with European financial laws while enabling seamless payment experiences for gaming merchants across the region.

About the Role

Midas Europe is seeking a highly experienced and regulatory-savvy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead its licensed operations in the EEA. The CEO will be responsible for strategic leadership, regulatory governance, and operational excellence of a DNB-licensed Payment Institution, with a particular focus on compliance, payment innovation, and sustainable cross-border growth in the fintech and digital entertainment space.

The ideal candidate brings extensive payment industry knowledge, direct board-level experience in a Dutch-licensed financial entity, and a strong command of European regulatory frameworks, especially under the supervision of the Dutch Central Bank (DNB). The CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors and ensure full compliance with the institution’s license obligations, safeguarding user funds and strengthening Midas’ role in the European digital payment ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Licensed Entity Leadership & Governance

• Serve as the statutory director of the Dutch DNB-licensed Payment Institution, maintaining a strong governance framework in compliance with DNB requirements and EEA regulatory standards.
• Liaise effectively with the Board, Dutch Central Bank, and auditors to ensure ongoing compliance, timely reporting, and effective supervision.
• Oversee regulatory audits, license renewals, and all supervisory interactions in line with PSD2 and related regulatory obligations.

Strategic Direction & Execution

• Set and execute a clear strategic vision aligned with Tencent’s global fintech and gaming monetization goals within Europe.
• Drive the company's mission, values, and long-term growth objectives while balancing risk, regulatory responsibilities, and innovation.

Payment Operations & Treasury Oversight

• Lead and optimize core payment processing, safeguarding of customer funds, and treasury functions under strict regulatory oversight.
• Ensure robust operational controls, fund segregation, and transaction monitoring in accordance with AMLD and PSD2 guidelines.

Financial & P&L Management

• Own the overall P&L of Midas Europe, driving profitability while ensuring sustainable financial management of regulated operations.
• Implement scalable revenue models, cost efficiencies, and capital management strategies that support the organization’s growth.

Merchant Growth & Platform Expansion

• Spearhead the onboarding and expansion of gaming and digital merchants, ensuring regulatory alignment for EEA operations.
• Support Tencent’s international monetization efforts through compliant, innovative payment products tailored to the European gaming market.

Partnership & Ecosystem Development

• Cultivate high-value relationships with acquirers, PSPs, banks, and payment networks to enhance payment capabilities and commercial scale.
• Lead complex negotiations and integrations with both upstream (financial institutions) and downstream (game merchants/platforms) partners.

Product Innovation & Regulatory Compliance

• Guide the design and implementation of new payment products within the constraints of a licensed entity, ensuring full compliance with European and Dutch financial services regulations.
• Monitor, assess, and integrate evolving regulatory and market trends (e.g., PSD3, AML/CFT) into company strategy.

Leadership & Team Development

• Build and lead a high-performing, compliance-aware, cross-functional team across operations, risk, compliance, finance, and commercial functions.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and regulatory excellence.

Qualifications & Experience

• Proven leadership experience as CEO, Managing Director, or Board Member within a licensed payment institution or regulated financial services entity in the Netherlands or EU.
• Demonstrated expertise in regulatory frameworks, including PSD2, AML/CFT, and Dutch Central Bank supervisory practices.
• Track record in managing DNB-licensed entities, with firsthand experience in governance, audits, reporting, and supervisory interaction.
• Deep understanding of payment ecosystems, including acquiring, settlement, safeguarding, and cross-border flows.
• Strong experience in the digital payments, fintech, or gaming monetization sectors, preferably with international reach.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills with experience engaging regulators, boards, and global corporate leadership.
• Skilled in financial planning, capital management, and P&L ownership.
• Fluent in English (mandatory); Mandarin highly desirable; Dutch at B1 or higher is an advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• Based in the Netherlands and work in a hybrid or on-site executive capacity.
