Role: Data Governance Lead

Your team: You will become part of our data team at Royal Terberg Group, which includes a data manager, data platform lead, data engineers, and analytics engineers. As we are on a pivotal moment in our data journey, we are actively looking for more roles to grow the team. The aim of the team is to optimize our company’s processes and achieve added value through the effective use of data.
Your role: As our Data Governance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the foundation of our data management practices. With your expertise in data governance frameworks, data quality, and metadata management, you will help us build a trusted, well-governed data landscape that supports our ambitions for a data-driven organization.
You will define and rollout data governance processes and ensure data ownership and quality are embedded across all domains. Your work will directly contribute to making data more discoverable, reliable, and actionable throughout the organization.
You will collaborate closely with colleagues in the group data team as well as with many business stakeholders across the Terberg organizations. You will report to the Group Data Manager.

Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Data Governance Framework & Ownership: As our Data Governance Lead, you will lead the definition and implementation of our data governance framework. This includes collaborating with business and IT leaders to map data domains, assigning data ownership, and maintaining an inventory of critical data elements to ensure accountability and strategic alignment.
- Data Quality Assurance & Standards: You will be responsible for establishing data quality standards and processes. This involves developing quality rules and metrics in partnership with data owners, analyzing and driving the resolution of data quality issues, improving data quality awareness across the organization.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration & Alignment: As a central figure in our data strategy, you will facilitate cross-functional discussions to ensure consistent understanding and application of data definitions, usage guidelines, and governance policies. You'll work closely with diverse teams to embed data governance principles and cultivate a data-driven culture by installing data stewardship within the organization.

Must have:
- Proven experience in data governance: Strong proficiency in applying data governance principles, including domain mapping, defining critical data elements (CDEs), and implementing governance processes.
- Hands-on experience with data governance tools: Familiarity with enterprise data catalogs, metadata management, and Master Data Management (MDM) systems. Experience with Purview and/or Unity Catalog is a pre.
- Stakeholder communication skills: Ability to clearly explain governance concepts (e.g., data ownership, stewardship, quality metrics) to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Understanding of data privacy and security: Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR) and how they impact data governance.
- Analytical mindset: Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail, particularly in defining data standards and resolving data quality issues.
- Experience with ERP systems: Familiarity with ERP data structures (preferably Microsoft Dynamics) and their governance implications.
- Industry knowledge: Experience in the manufacturing or automotive sector, with understanding of relevant data domains like product, supply chain, or customer data.
- Agile working experience: Comfortable working in agile environments using tools like Jira, Confluence, or Azure DevOps.
- Familiarity with data platforms: Exposure to cloud-based data ecosystems (e.g., Databricks, Synapse, Fabric) and how governance integrates with them.
