Senior Software Engineer - Android (Live Streaming)

Key Responsibilities

• Build and optimize live streaming and real-time interactive features.

• Implement smooth video playback, encoding/decoding, and low-latency user interactions.

• Collaborate with backend, design, and product teams to define and ship impactful features.

• Ensure performance, stability, and responsiveness across a wide range of Android devices.

• Work on real-time data synchronization (e.g. socket, WebRTC, push updates).

• Own the end-to-end implementation of features with clean, testable, scalable Kotlin code.

• Monitor and resolve crashes, ANRs, memory issues, and performance bottlenecks.

• Continuously evaluate new tools and technologies to improve app efficiency.

Required Skills

• Deep understanding of the Android platform, Kotlin, and Android architecture components.

• Experience with Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Flow, and Dependency Injection (Hilt/Dagger).

• Strong command of real-time data handling, such as WebSockets, socket.io, or similar frameworks.

• Hands-on experience with video streaming, media playback, and custom video player implementations.

• Familiarity with Room or other local storage solutions for syncing real-time data.

• Experience working with live broadcast workflows, CDN integration, or stream protocols (e.g. HLS, RTMP).

• Strong grasp of app profiling tools and debugging performance in production.

Nice to Have

• Experience with WebRTC, XMPP, or any real-time communication protocols.

• Background in social or creator-focused apps with interactive features like gifting, commenting, or live polls.

• Understanding of content delivery, latency optimization, and real-time analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 8+ years of Android development experience, with at least 4 years in Kotlin.

• Proven track record building and scaling consumer-facing Android apps with high traffic and media-heavy components
