Production Manager
Job Description

Some of what you will do:

The Production Manager is responsible for the day-to-day production operations within a Copy & Print production centre environment. They plan, schedule, and oversees all production activities. This includes providing essential functions to ensure a no-compromise approach to delivering orders when promised and configured as ordered. The Production Manager provides leadership, coaching and directs the activities of a team of Production Supervisors.

Specifically, You Will

  • Accountable for the on-time delivery of jobs that are configured as ordered.
  • Creates a work environment that fosters teamwork and individual skills development.
  • Maintains and promotes a productive work environment through effective management of labour scheduling, job scheduling, and production processes.
  • Provides direction and promotes uniform workflow processes throughout all work shifts and with all associates.
  • Accountable for variable cost controls such as hardware expenses & supplies expenses.
  • Recruits associates and oversees effective on-boarding processes.
  • Coordinates and manages effective supplies inventory processes to maximize capability and minimize costs.
  • Responsible for managing performance of Production Supervisor team and providing ongoing coaching, development, and performance appraisals.
  • Ensures all CPC associates check and understand all sources of communication information (white boards, bulletin boards, portals etc.).

Some Of What You Need

  • College or Technical School Diploma in Print Production.
  • 4-5 Years experience in the graphic communication and printing industry with a specific background print production with clear Supervisory experience.
  • Understands steps involved in the printing process.
  • Working knowledge of MAC OS and PC Platforms; preflight & industry software, file specifications and standards, desktop publishing terminology, file naming conventions.
  • Knowledge of database systems and workflow management programs.
  • Basic colour theory (models & space), calibration procedures, colour profiles, colour gamut of devices, and colour management devices.
  • Knowledge of internal and external network environment, operating systems, file types and extensions, software & hardware components of a prepress operation, file transfer (FTP, HTTP) protocols.
