The AppSim team is responsible for driving application simplification across the organization, focusing on reducing operational complexity and technical debt. They work closely with the wider digital delivery and digital core teams to identify and pursue simplification opportunities. The team collaborates with business partners to align simplification efforts with broader transformation goals and drive measurable improvements in operational efficiency.

Let me tell you about the role

• In the AppSim team, a Data Analyst collects, processes, and analyzes various datasets to support application simplification initiatives. You will interpret sophisticated data sets to identify trends and patterns, using analytical tools to generate actionable insights that drive simplification decisions. You will build visualizations and reports to communicate findings to business collaborators and senior management, ensuring data accuracy and recommending data-driven solutions to tackle value-impacting business challenges. Collaboration with multi-functional teams will be essential to understand business needs and ensure that data analysis supports the overall simplification strategy!
• In the AppSim team, you will work as part of a cross-disciplinary group, collaborating closely with data analysts, product managers, data scientists, data engineers, software engineers, data managers, and business partners. You will provide actionable, data-driven insights that combine strong statistical skills, data manipulation expertise, and business insight. Your responsibilities will include defining, instrumenting, and maintaining measurement for success, building dashboards, and proactively identifying and driving impactful data analysis opportunities. Acting as a liaison business and digital teams, you will ensure alignment across both areas. If necessary, you will build and maintain data pipelines to support your analysis. You will advocate for leading data analytics methodologies present your findings to peers and leadership to influence decision-making, and mentor others within the team.

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

Essential

• MSc or equivalent experience in a quantitative field, preferably statistics.
• Hands-on experience carrying out data analytics, data mining and product analytics in complex, fast-paced environments.
• Applied knowledge of data analytics and data pipelining tools and approaches across all data lifecycle stages.
• Thorough understanding of underlying mathematical foundations of statistics, including knowledge of experimental design and analysis and causal inference from observational data.
• Expert level SQL knowledge.
• Advanced scripting experience in R or python.
• Ability to write and maintain moderately complex data pipelines.
• Customer-centric and pragmatic attitude. Focus on value delivery and swift execution, while maintaining attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to lead through influence.
• Continuous learning and improvement mentality.

Desired

• Advanced analytics degree
• Experience with big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Hive, and Spark) is a plus.
• No prior experience in the energy industry required.
