Java Software Engineer

We are supporting a Tech Services company working with investment banks in the build-out of its modern data and analytics platform. The initiative spans front-to-back trade lifecycle systems, including ingestion, processing, enrichment, and presentation of data for both operational and strategic use cases.

Role

As a Java Engineer, you will help design and implement scalable data-driven applications that blend robust backend services with clean, responsive frontends. You will work across ingestion frameworks, event-driven architectures, microservices, and visualisation tools to deliver full-stack solutions that serve trading, risk, and finance users. This includes:

• Building backend services in Java for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery
• Developing APIs and event-driven integrations using Kafka or Event Hub
• Implementing web-based UIs or dashboards for data visibility and control
• Supporting data modelling, governance, and metadata management
• Collaborating with Product Owners, SMEs, and Visualisation teams
• Deploying solutions on Azure using tools like Azure Functions, ADF, App Services, and Synapse

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong Java expertise
• Proven delivery in a financial services or capital markets setting
• Experience with event-driven platforms (Kafka, Event Hub) and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with front-end technologies (React, Angular, or similar frameworks)
• Strong understanding of data structures, APIs, and integration patterns
• Azure cloud skills, especially with ADF, App Services, Synapse, or Functions
• Experience with databases (SQL, Snowflake, or Databricks)
• Exposure to tools like DBT, Airflow, Power BI, or Tableau is a plus
