HSE Site Manager – Brazil Affiliate
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HSE Site Manager to lead the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) function for our Administrative Headquarters and Field Sales Operations in Brazil. This role is responsible for developing and executing the HSE roadmap, ensuring compliance with local laws and corporate policies, and promoting a culture of safety, wellbeing, and environmental responsibility across the affiliate.
The HSE Site Manager will lead strategic initiatives related to occupational risk management, road safety, emergency preparedness, and sustainability, acting as the main interface between local teams, service providers, and global HSE governance.

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced HSE Site Manager to lead the Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) function for our Administrative Headquarters and Field Sales Operations in Brazil. This role is responsible for developing and executing the HSE roadmap, ensuring compliance with local laws and corporate policies, and promoting a culture of safety, wellbeing, and environmental responsibility across the affiliate.
The HSE Site Manager will lead strategic initiatives related to occupational risk management, road safety, emergency preparedness, and sustainability, acting as the main interface between local teams, service providers, and global HSE governance.
Critical Skills Required
- Communication: It is essential for an HSE Manager to clearly explain safety requirements and convince employees at all levels to adopt safer behaviors, even when facing constrains/ pressures.
- A Coaching Leadership Style: This helps build a safety culture by developing team members' skills and encouraging them to take ownership of safety, rather than just following rules because they're told to.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HSE lead for the Brazil Affiliate, overseeing operations in the corporate office and nationwide field sales teams.
- Lead and manage a multidisciplinary network including HSE technicians, Road Safety and HSE Committees, ESG squad, internal emergency brigade, and the CIPA (Internal Commission for Accident Prevention).
- Champion HSE campaigns, awareness programs, and internal initiatives (e.g., SIPAT, Yellow May, World Environment Day) to shape and strengthen a proactive safety culture.
- Drive the implementation of global corporate programs including All Well, Planet Care, and Leading Safety, ensuring their integration into daily operations.
- Design and implement policies and procedures aligned with Brazilian legal requirements and Sanofi’s global HSE standards.
- Monitor, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) on HSE, wellness, and sustainability goals to senior leadership.
- Ensure full compliance with HSE requirements across local, state, federal, and corporate regulations.
- Oversee high-risk activities in collaboration with Workplace Experience, third-party contractors, and operational teams.
- Lead emergency preparedness and crisis management efforts, including execution and maintenance of the Emergency Response Plan.
- Manage the Road Safety Program and related coaching processes for safe fleet operations.
- Conduct HSE training programs for employees and contractors, ensuring awareness, legal compliance, and technical development.
- Coordinate internal, external, and corporate audits, managing non-conformities and corrective action plans.
- Identify occupational, environmental, and operational risks and implement effective controls to prevent incidents.
- Administer the HSE budget and capital expenditures in alignment with the business plan and corporate roadmap.
- Promote a culture of Ethics and Business Integrity within their teams by serving as a role model and ensuring understanding and compliance with Sanofi’s ethics principles, internal policies, and the codes of conduct applicable to the pharmaceutical sector.
- Ensure compliance with and foster the implementation of Sanofi’s HSE policies across their teams, including the Road Safety Program, to help prevent workplace accidents, mitigate health risks, promote employee well-being, and reduce the environmental impact of operational activities.
- Support and advocate for Sanofi’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) strategy and initiatives, ensuring that all employees and partners are treated with respect and given equal opportunities to succeed.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required)
- Postgraduate degree in Occupational Safety Engineering with an active CREA-SP registration (required)
- Proven experience in Occupational Safety Engineering and Environmental Management
- Solid experience in coordinating and auditing HSE management systems
- Strong background in people management, expense control, process optimization, and cost reduction
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Experience with Road Safety programs and accident analysis techniques is highly desirable
- Advanced English (required)
- Proficiency in Spanish and/or French is a plus
