What You’ll Do

The Designer brings the BIG W customer offer to life through the design and development of targeted products, giving our customers quality brilliant basics and key on trend items for great prices.

  • Create and develop customer first ranges for multiple categories each season, managing the development and execution of garments including, shape, colour , fabrication, print, pattern and fit.
  • Partner with the Commercial Category Managers to understand the customer strategy for each category, range option plans and target costings in order to develop a commercially viable range, that offers suitable garments and solutions for the customer
  • Research, understand and interpret fashion trends and make them relevant, wearable and accessible for our customers.
  • Partner with the Garment Technicians to ensure shape, fit and construction details of each garment is consistent and comfortable for our customers, Partner with the Merchandisers in the sourcing team identify, troubleshoot and resolve production issue.
  • Partner with the Quality to ensure all garments have been appropriately tested and meet all compliance regulations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Formal qualification in Fashion Design
  • Previous experience in a Designer role for a large retail business,
  • Previous accountability managing a designing for a medium volume and medium complexity of options.
  • Expertise in one or more areas of design.
  • Previous experience leading and coaching designers, assistant designers and other support roles.
