Senior Data Scientist – Geologist

We’re a stealth-mode deep-tech startup building a next-generation sensing platform to unlock unseen insights in the subsurface world. Our mission is to redefine mineral exploration and mapping using cutting-edge hyperspectral imaging technology—powered by a proprietary laser-based sensor.

We’re now looking for a Senior Data Scientist with hands-on experience in spectroscopy and mineralogy, ideally within a mining or geoscience context, to join our founding technical team. This is a rare opportunity to help shape the data and AI stack of a world-first platform at the intersection of geology, optics, and scalable computation.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and implement advanced algorithms for mineral mapping using hyperspectral data
• Build and scale automated data pipelines, from lab to field
• Analyze data from spectral imaging experiments and prototype deployments
• Contribute to field integration, data interpretation, and iterative sensor development

What We’re Looking For

• Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in chemistry, physics, geosciences, chemical engineering, or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in data science or applied spectroscopy
• Strong background in data acquisition, preprocessing, modelling, and interpretation
• Solid command of Python (or MATLAB) and experience with chemometric or multivariate analysis
• Proven expertise in spectroscopic methods—ideally with hyperspectral imaging or point spectroscopy
• Familiarity with geological applications of spectroscopy is key
• Bonus: experience in lab instrumentation, sensor calibration, or field testing
