Network Engineer – IP & Routing Specialist

📍 Location: Fully onsite – Dublin (Burlington Road)

📄 Contract Type: 12-Month Contract (Extension Possible)

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Network Engineer to join a cutting-edge infrastructure team for a global tech leader. In this role, you will contribute to the design, support, and optimization of one of the most sophisticated and large-scale networks in the world.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and troubleshoot scalable, resilient IP-based networks.
• Optimize and support routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
• Operate and maintain large-scale Cisco router platforms (37xx–76xx series).
• Conduct in-depth network analysis and resolve complex issues quickly.
• Automate operational tasks using Python or Bash scripting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in data center or telecom environments.

✅ Required Qualifications

• Strong understanding of IP networking and routing protocols.
• Proven experience with BGP, OSPF, and ideally IS-IS.
• Proficiency in:
• MPLS, HSRP/GLBP, LDP, PIMv2
• VLANs/STP (802.1d), IPv4/IPv6, TCP internals, NetFlow, VPN/IPSEC
• Hands-on with Cisco router platforms: 37xx, 49xx, 65xx, 73xx, 76xx
• Familiarity with transport tech such as DWDM, T1/DS1, DS3, SONET (OC3/OC48)
• Scripting experience in Python and/or Bash
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

🌟 Preferred Background

• Previous experience in a telecommunications or data center environment
• Exposure to security protocols and tools such as TACACS, DNS, and HTTP
