Chief Technology Officer

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive IT strategy that supports the company's business objectives
  • Designing and overseeing the architecture IT structures ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability
  • Centralize and take ownership of data and automation efforts to streamline reporting and reduce manual work
  • Build a scalable, secure, and efficient IT infrastructure from scratch, platforms, database
  • Lead the selection and implementation of technology solutions, software, and cloud services
  • Establish IT policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure data security, compliance, and operational efficiency.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing IT team
  • Drive innovation and cross-functional collaboration to ensure IT is included in business and operational decisions
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify and address their technology needs
  • Manage relationships with external partners, vendors, and stakeholders to optimize technology investments
  • Stay updated with the latest technological trends and integrate relevant innovations to maintain a competitive edge
  • Oversee IT budgets, ensuring cost-effective solutions and efficient resource allocation
  • Contributes to the business unit’s second line of defense goals by supporting GIL’s operational risk activities

The completion of the above tasks requires a strong cooperation with all departments and units in Italy, Risk, Legal and Tax, Business Lines and Back Offices as well as other financial institutions and clients.


Requirements

The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in a technology leadership role, preferably within the financial industry
  • Strong technical expertise in IT infrastructure, AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and software development
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align technology initiatives with business goals
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP, PMP) are a plus


Technical Skills and Relevant Technologies:

  • Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience with modern development frameworks and tools, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices architecture
  • Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL) and data management strategies

Company Profile

The CTO will be responsible for establishing and overseeing the entire IT function within the company. This role requires a strategic thinker with a strong technical background and the ability to lead and inspire a team; as we are a regulated the company, you must also know and be familiar with the regulatory framework such DORA, CSSF Circular 17/654, 18/698 and others.


The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in building and managing IT infrastructure, driving innovation, and aligning technology initiatives with business goals.


We need a technology leader with a strategic vision to transform IT from a reactive cost center into an enabler of business growth. You must bring software, data, and automation expertise while also possessing strong leadership and change management skills
