The opportunity: Financial Risk Officer – Permanent

What you will do:
Reporting to the Country Chief Risk Officer, you will maximise the effectiveness of risk management measures within HSBC Luxembourg and support the Luxembourg CRO for the oversight of Treasury risks (capital, liquidity, market and Interest Rate Risk in the Banking book – “IRRBB”).
In this role, you will:
- Support the Country CRO by acting as a partner to the businesses and functions, supporting growth, profitability, return on tangible equity and sustainability aspirations while retaining the appropriate risk management discipline on financial risks to achieve strategic goals.
- Support the Country CRO in defining the country’s Risk Strategy, Risk Appetite (ensuring alignment with Group Risk Appetite where necessary) for financial risks and support management/hedging of key exposures
- Support the implementation of the Group Financial Risk Policies locally and maintenance of the Luxembourg local Policy Framework.
- Support the implementation of strategic risk related projects and the overall Risk transformation agenda in country.
- Work with Finance for the elaboration of the Internal Adequacy Capital/Liquidity Assessment Process.
- Establishment, oversight and execution of an effective financial risk framework, including capital, market, interest rate and liquidity risks.
- Together with the CRO, establish and maintain the Stress Testing activities and the Economic Capital framework.
You should apply if you have:
- Relevant professional experience in a similar position (capital risk, Liquidity risk, Interest Rate risk, market risk, risk reporting: ICAAP, ILAAP…)
- Banking experience with an understanding of banking governance, activities, products, processes and systems
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of a Bank’s Balance Sheet
- Knowledge of the regulatory environment in the financial services sector, in particular the local and EU prudential requirements (CRD, CRR…)
- Experience in the review of credits considered as an asset
- Understanding of modelling techniques and analytics in respect of financial risks
- Fluency in English, both written and oral.
