Fullstack Engineer Intern

The Rakuten Technology Service Division, creates powerful, customer-focused search, recommendation, data science, advertising, marketing, price, and inventory optimization solutions to a variety of businesses in commerce, fintech and mobile industries.

AILab is a group focuses on incubating early-stage efforts to create new ways to advance products through exploration and the application of AI technologies. We work to build new solutions that have the potential to transform how users interact with Rakuten service. We're seeking a highly motivated Fullstack Engineer Intern to contribute to the development of our next-generation search experience, powered by cutting-edge AI technology. In this role, you'll work across the full stack, contributing to both the frontend and backend development of our products. You'll play a key role in bringing our AI technology to life for our users.

Qualifications:

• Strong front-end development skills: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript
• Hands-on experience or interest in working with Java-based backend systems
• Debugging and problem-solving skills · Experience with application frameworks such as React.js
• Full-stack mindset with some backend experience or exposure to Java
• Experience in an Agile product development environment

Good to have:

• Experience with CSS pre-processors: Sass and POSTCSS
• Familiarity with design tools or systems such as Figma or Storybook
