Network Engineer

Contract Network Engineer – Dublin City | €400–425/day | Onsite

We're hiring a Contract Network Engineer to join a leading project onsite in South Dublin City. This is a 6+ month contract offering a daily rate of around €400 per day depending on experience.

If you're a hands-on engineer with deep Cisco expertise, strong routing protocol knowledge, and solid Python scripting skills — this could be the contract for you.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Deploy and maintain high-performance IP networks in a critical infrastructure environment.
• Lead on network automation and scripting tasks using Python to streamline deployments and monitoring.
• Configure and support core network platforms including Cisco 3700, 4900, 6500, 7300, 7600 series.
• Troubleshoot and optimise large-scale networks, focusing on BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
• Work across cross-functional teams to deliver robust, secure, and scalable solutions.

What You’ll Bring:

• Strong IP networking fundamentals and a deep understanding of routing protocol behaviour.
• Proven experience with Cisco enterprise hardware and complex routing environments.
• Proficiency in Python scripting for network deployment automation is a must.
• Robust troubleshooting skills and experience in traffic analysis, packet flow, and routing issues.

💡 Bonus Skills (Nice to Have):

• Hands-on with protocols/technologies: IPv6, HSRP/GLBP, PIM, IGMP, LDP, VPNs, NetFlow, DNS, HTTP, TACACS.
• Experience with T1/DS1, SONET (OC3/OC48), VLANs/STP, and more.
• Familiarity with network monitoring tools and automation frameworks.
