WHAT WE DO...

  • Business need analysis, design of functional and non-functional requirements, system analysis, support for business transformation and IT/business consultancy;
  • User interface and experience design and development for mobile and desktop applications;
  • Front and back-end development in a wide range of technologies: Java, .NET, Ruby, GoLang, Oracle, Python.
  • Complete Data Warehouse solutions from architecture, design and implementation using mainly Vertica, Oracle and Microsoft platforms.
  • Avalanche has been the central counterparty for multiple major banking projects in the Scandinavia and Baltics, in areas such as lending automation, regulatory reporting and calculations, integrations, governance, risk and compliance, Basel II/III, Stress Testing, AML/KYC.!

You will join a fast-growing Cloud Platform team at banking, responsible for managing a secure and scalable multi-account AWS environment for one of the leading financial institutions in the Baltics. As a Cloud Network Engineer Lead Consultant, you will play a critical role in shaping the cloud-native networking architecture, driving knowledge transfer, and supporting the transition from an on-premise networking model to a cloud-native one.

This is a high-impact senior consulting engagement where your network engineering expertise—especially within cloud environments—will directly influence the maturity and scalability of the client’s cloud platform. The current team consists of six members, with strong potential for growth. You will work closely with cloud architects, platform engineers, and DevOps specialists.


WHAT YOU WILLING TO...

✨ Work remotely from Europe or the UK with collaboration in CET/EET time zones

Travel once per month to the Baltics (2–3 days) – fully covered by the client

✨Commit to a full-time consulting capacity (1 FTE)

✨Support team enablement and onboarding during the transition from legacy networks to cloud-native

✨Own delivery excellence and possibly extend beyond the initial 6 months based on performance

✨Define the networking backbone of a major financial institution’s AWS landscape

✨Combine hands-on technical leadership with team enablement and strategic input


DO YOU HAVE...

🚀8+ years of professional experience in network engineering, including at least 4+ years in AWS networking environments

🚀Very strong foundational experience as a network engineer — this is essential:

  • This role is new within the Cloud Platform team, and you will be expected to bring deep, hands-on network engineering knowledge, helping onboard the team as the cloud networking responsibilities have recently transitioned from the on-premise network team.

🚀Deep expertise in AWS networking, including:

  • VPC architecture, subnets, route tables, NAT gateways, Transit Gateway
  • PrivateLink, VPC Peering, Site-to-Site VPN, and Direct Connect
  • Security Groups, NACLs, network segmentation
  • VPC Flow Logs, CloudWatch, and other network monitoring tools

🚀Experience with hybrid networking models integrating cloud and on-prem environments

🚀Strong Kubernetes networking experience

🚀Proficiency in configuring Istio

🚀Solid Terraform experience for infrastructure-as-code, especially network components

🚀Sound understanding of Linux networking, including iptables, DNS, IP routing

🚀Familiarity with CI/CD and GitOps practices in network configuration

🚀Experience managing multi-account AWS environments
