Position
As a software engineer at MeritStory, you will be joining a cross-functional team of experienced individuals.
You will spend most of your time producing high-quality code for our clients’ projects. However, since the process is an ever-changing one, you will also be welcome to participate in planning, workflow improvement, retrospection, research, and technical design activities.
Our typical project takes anywhere from 3 to 12 months, so you will have the opportunity to widen your knowledge by touching on a multitude of business problems while working alongside the same colleagues.
Requirements
Ideally, a candidate for this position should meet the following requirements:
- 1+ years of hands-on experience developing and maintaining WordPress websites.
- Strong understanding of the WordPress CMS, including custom theme development and plugin customization.
- Solid knowledge of JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and PHP.
- Familiarity with Elementor (drag-and-drop page builder plugin), ACF (Advanced Custom Fields) and other widely used plugins.
- Familiarity with WordPress hooks system (actions & filters).
- Experience working with WP-Cron for scheduled tasks.
- Practical experience with WooCommerce (setup, customization, troubleshooting).
- Attention to detail and high personal standards of code quality and performance.
- Open-mindedness and eagerness to question current practices and learn continuously.
- Proficient communication in English (verbal and written in English).
Bonus points for
- Track record of previous projects that demonstrate quality code, attention to design detail, and thoughtful UX decisions.
- Experience with headless WordPress setups (e.g. Next.js or React as frontend).
- Knowledge of SEO and performance optimization best practices in WordPress.
