The biggest challenge

Building a platform that serves everyone from SQL-savvy analysts to business users who think CSV is the name of a rapper. How do you create an infrastructure that’s both powerful and accessible? How do you balance data democratization with security and compliance? You’ll constantly juggle performance ambitions with cost-efficiency considerations, all while supporting peak loads of 700 orders per minute. You’ll need to make complex data simple without dumbing it down,and ensure reliability without sacrificing innovation speed. Can you build systems that scale gracefully while keeping the data quality pristine?

What You'll Do As Software Engineer Data Platform

As a member of our Data Platform team – part of our Data, Analytics & AI department – you’ll help shape how bol manages one of its most valuable assets: data. Working in a multicultural environment with engineers from around the globe, you’ll collaborate intensively with product managers, lead engineers, and architects to evolve our Google Cloud-based infrastructure and a range of in-house data accessibility, compliance, and catalog management tools.

Your days combine architecture design with hands-on development. One morning, you’re optimizing BigQuery pipelines that process terabytes of data; that afternoon, you’re mentoring colleagues on Kotlin best practices. You’ll evaluate existing components, replace legacy systems, and build new solutions that seamlessly integrate with analytics tools like Tableau and Looker Studio. You’ll build data ingestion pipelines that can handle ‘everything.’ Whether it’s real-time clickstreams or financial batch reports, each byte lands exactly where it should. And nowhere else.

Responsibilities

Beyond being a gifted coder, you’re an enthusiastic educator and enabler. You’ll make complex data concepts accessible to diverse audiences, from teaching analysts the fine art of query optimization to helping business users understand the intricacies and importance of data governance. Your passion for knowledge sharing multiplies your impact across the organization. Key responsibilities:

• Design and maintain a scalable data infrastructure on the Google Cloud Platform
• Build robust pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and storage
• Optimize platform performance while keeping costs under control
• Implement security policies and ensure GDPR compliance
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and business teams
• Champion new technologies and methodologies through evaluation and adoption

We’re part of the Data, Analytics & AI department, working closely with three other teams in an international environment.
