Duration: 6 Months Contract

Experience Level: Mid-to-Senior Level (5+ years preferred)

Are you a systems thinker who dreams in game loops and thrives on designing engaging, motivational experiences? We're looking for a Game Designer to help reinvent how people experience fitness through Mixed Reality. You'll create progression systems, reward structures, and daily rituals that empower users to build strength, confidence, and consistency through play.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design of game systems that support long-term engagement, motivation, and personal growth.
  • Redesign the app’s core progression system, incorporating fitness goals, rewards, and achievement milestones.
  • Develop game loops, daily/weekly rituals, and seasonal or event-based content to enhance retention and habit formation.
  • Collaborate across product, content, and data teams to align game mechanics with fitness outcomes and business objectives.
  • Prototype systems using Figma, visualizing design intent clearly and effectively.
  • Work with UX designers to embed progression and reward mechanics within intuitive 2D and 3D interfaces.
  • Evaluate current game metrics and define new structures with measurable goals.
  • Stay current on game design trends and research, providing thought leadership and strategic input.
  • Support onboarding design to introduce new mechanics and metrics in engaging and accessible ways.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in game design, ideally with live service or progression-heavy products.
  • Expertise in core game loops, progression systems, and motivational design principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive both intrinsic and extrinsic user motivation through systems design.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams (product, UX, engineering).
  • Proficient in Figma for systems visualization and interactive prototyping.
  • Passion for building emotionally resonant, habit-forming gameplay experiences.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with function-driven games (e.g., educational, wellness, or language-learning apps).
  • Academic background in game design, human-computer interaction, or behavioral psychology.
  • Personal interest in fitness, wellness, or movement-based experiences.
  • Experience designing rhythm games or interactive experiences with time-based mechanics.
  • Familiarity with metrics-based design iteration and behavior-informed optimization.
