Business Data Analyst | Initial 6 Month Contract + Potential EXT | Brisbane, QLD

Rate: Circa $900 - $1250 p/d

Role Overview:

We’re partnering with a major organisation undergoing an exciting transformation of its communications and contact management systems. This is the early phase of a multi-year initiative that will completely overhaul how the business communicates with its stakeholders – inbound and outbound – and how it leverages data to drive decision-making.

You’ll be at the forefront of this foundational work. Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll help make sense of legacy systems, surface missing data points, and contribute to the design of a future-ready, unified communications and contact management solution.

You won’t be handed a clean dataset or a comprehensive system overview – quite the opposite. You’ll need to work in ambiguity, help define what the current-state data picture looks like, identify gaps, and shape a smarter routing and reporting solution for the future. This is a fast-moving program, and we need someone who thrives in exploratory, collaborative environments and can hit the ground running.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted advisor across all business areas, creating and maintaining strong relationships across the business.
  • Champion data governance, best practices, and lead communities of practice and data-related working groups.
  • Guide the development of a federated data catalogue strategy aligned with state-wide enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Collaborate with SMEs to align data architecture, management frameworks, policies, and standards.
  • Support the design of data pipelines, integrations, databases, and platforms.
  • Translate business needs into technical requirements for analytics, data sharing, and intelligence.
  • Evaluate and enhance data platform interoperability and integration strategies.
  • Conduct a thorough analysis of existing data sources and systems.
  • Perform a gap analysis: "what data do we have, what’s missing, and why?"
  • Define current-state data points and how they map to future requirements.

What You Bring:

  • Proven experience engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing strategic outcomes. Helping them understand what the data should look like in the future.
  • Expertise in data architecture and data analysis within large, complex enterprises.
  • Hands-on experience in data science, data analysis, data mapping, modelling, modern data platforms, and governance - with a focus on business relevance.
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and build clarity around undefined or unstructured data
  • Technical proficiency in Microsoft technologies, including: Power BI (data analysis) and Azure (data engineering).
