About the Position
Our client is building general-purpose robotic systems from the ground up; fusing physics-based simulation, learning-based control, and real-world hardware into an end-to-end autonomy stack.
As an Applied Robotics Engineer, you’ll own the development of low-level control policies and learning-based behaviours, working across sim and real systems. You’ll be part of a small, high-agency team focused on pushing the boundaries of locomotion, manipulation, and sensorimotor generalisation.
This isn’t a research lab role, it’s hands-on, systems-level work with daily exposure to real robots.
What You’ll Work On:
- Design and train robust control policies (RL, IL, model-based) for robotic platforms
- Build closed-loop systems that generalise across terrain, morphology, and context
- Own the full learning-to-deployment loop: sim → train → deploy → iterate
- Develop and tune low-latency control interfaces for real-time robot performance
- Work with simulation tools (Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, Unity, PyBullet) and port to real hardware
- Collaborate across mechanical, software, and ML teams to bring behaviours online
Experience Required:
- 4–7+ years experience developing and deploying robotic control systems
- Deep knowledge of reinforcement learning, optimal control, or imitation learning
- Strong implementation skills in Python, C++, and modern robotics stacks (ROS, Isaac Sim, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with sim2real workflows and debugging real robot systems
- Strong grasp of robot dynamics, trajectory optimisation, and feedback control
- Bonus: experience with quadrupeds, manipulators, or whole-body control
- Bonus: prior work in low-level ML deployment or real-time control systems
Why Join:
- Shape foundational layers of general-purpose robotic autonomy
- Work with real systems from day one: tight feedback loop, high impact
- Collaborate with a world-class, low-ego team in a focused, high-bandwidth environment
- On-site lab access, beautiful Paris workspace, and frontier-level autonomy problems
- Top-tier compensation and equity
