Backend Developer - Expansion

About The Role

As a Backend Engineer on our Expansion team, you'll build the intelligent systems that power Aira's growth across Europe. You'll work on our product engine that recommends the best combination of heat pumps, solar panels, and smart home equipment to customers, while supporting our expanding product portfolio as we launch new clean energy solutions.

In this role, you will:

• Build and maintain our product recommendation engine that suggests optimal combinations of heat pumps, solar panels, and smart home equipment
• Support our expanding product portfolio by creating flexible systems that can easily onboard new clean energy products
• Develop pricing systems that adapt to different markets, currencies, and product combinations
• Create backend services that support sales processes across our growing range of products
• Build tools and APIs that enable expansion into new markets with diverse product offerings
• Design a scalable infrastructure that supports rapid growth in both geographic reach and product portfolio

What You Bring To The Team

• Experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Strong understanding of databases and data modelling
• Experience with automated testing (unit tests, integration tests)
• Interest in building systems that drive business growth and sales efficiency

• Database experience (DynamoDB/PostgreSQL)
• Event-driven architectures (Kafka)
