As a Senior .NET Software Engineer at Optum, within the Optum Advisory Services group, you will be a key hands-on contributor within a team of talented software engineers. You will be a collaborative self-starter who is passionate about design, that can take ownership and drive results. This role will involve working with a distributed, global team with multiple stakeholders.
This role is within the StepWise Product development team within the wider Optum Advisory Services group. The StepWise software is a cloud-based platform built using .NET, SQL Server, Kafka, MongoDB and ElasticSearch. It is currently deployed to Azure and on premises.
Careers with Optum offer flexible work arrangements and individuals who live and work in the Republic of Ireland will have the opportunity to split their monthly work hours between our Dublin office and telecommuting from a home-based office in a hybrid work model.

Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implement product features in collaboration with business and other stakeholders
- Design reusable components, frameworks and libraries
- Work very closely with the development team, product owners and other stakeholder
- Participate in an Agile/Scrum methodology to deliver high-quality software releases through Sprints
- Troubleshoot production support issues post-deployment and come up with solutions as required
Required Qualifications:
- Strong object-oriented programming and design skills
- Strong Software Engineering experience using the full .NET Stack and .NET Core or later in particular
- Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment
- Strong desire to learn about new trends and technologies
- Passionate about good design, and software development in general
- Good knowledge of formal architectures, design patterns and best practices, including the design, development and deployment of Microservice architectures and service-oriented architectures in general
- Experience working in Azure cloud platforms (Azure, Azure API Gateway, Azure Kubernetes Services)
- Experience in automating build processes, application deployments and continuous integration systems, with tools such as: Jenkins, GitHub,
- Containerization, SonarQube
- Experience with Test Driven Development (TDD)
- Working knowledge of remote/web-based APIs (especially REST)
- Experience delivering software using an Agile/Scrum methodology
- Experience with SQL, relational and Document Databases. Ideally with SQL Server and MongoDB.
- Experience with using IIS
- Some experience with JavaScript and ASP.NET or other front-end frameworks
