We are seeking a seasoned Senior Android Engineer to join our customer's dynamic, agile team responsible for developing and maintaining the customer-facing app. You will work closely with a cross-functional team, including a Product Owner, Scrum Master, fellow Android & iOS Developers, and Automation QA and Manual QA specialists, to deliver high-quality, delightful mobile experiences.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities & duties include:

• Requirements & Planning: Collaborate with the team to break down features, provide feedback on designs, clarify requirements, provide estimates and contribute to technical discussions to ensure a clear and executable plan
• Mobile Software Development: Interpret designs and requirements and translate them into code that is modular, readable, testable, and, above all, meets the objectives of the feature
• Code Quality & Peer Review: As part of a team, you will peer-review code to maintain high standards and provide mentorship to junior developers as needed
• App Performance & Stability: Focus on delivering a crash-free, high-performing application that enhances the user experience
• Agile Practices: Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies (e.g., sprint planning, retrospectives) and adhere to Agile methodologies (SCRUM/SAFe) to ensure continuous delivery and improvement
• Continuous Integration & Testing: Work within a CI/CD pipeline to ensure smooth, automated deployments. Implement and maintain unit and system testing to ensure code quality
• Monitoring & Support: Monitor the performance (both commercial and technical) of our mobile app. Occasionally, issues will arise, and you will need to support the Aer Lingus mobile app in production
• Technical Innovation: Stay updated on the latest Android technologies and trends, bringing innovative solutions

Requirements

Required skills:

• Professional experience in Android Mobile App Development
• 7+ years’ experience on the Android platform, with Android SDK and Android Studio
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken, with clear communication
• Knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, both Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
• Has released and supported production apps in the Google Play Store
• An expert in mobile unit and system testing tools and techniques
• Familiar with techniques for mobile remote config management and observability
• Familiar with networking, security and REST and GraphQL-based APIs
• Experienced in Git and associated SCM practices
• Implemented commonly used architecture patterns
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
• Self-motivated, flexible, and passionate
• Able to anticipate problems and deal with them at the earliest opportunity

Desirable skills:

• Experience with Analytics and Marketing SDKs
• Developing CI/CD Pipelines for Mobile
• Mobile Experience Management (Personalisation) and Content Management)
• Knowledge of AWS and API Gateway, App Sync and Cloudwatch in particular
• Knowledge of Accessibility Standards both for Mobile Applications
