Full-stack Java Developer - Insurance (Luxembourg onsite, short-term)

For one of our clients based in Luxembourg - a leading insurance provider in Luxembourg and the area, we are looking for a Senior Java Developer with experience in COBOL and ABAP to join the IT Accounting team. We offer an agile, collaborative environment that values communication, excellence, and innovation. The team includes a Product Owner, a Business Analyst, a Scrum Master, and several developers working within the Scrum framework, closely collaborating with business stakeholders. We're looking for a self-driven consultant who enjoys their work and takes pride in what they build & who has experience in the insurance sector!

The position is short-term (3 months initial contract, renewable) based in Luxembourg where the onsite presence is needed 3/4 times per week. If you’re not based in the area, relocation to Luxembourg (or borders - Belgium, France, Germany) will be required.

More specifically, you will be responsible for...

• Working in an agile environment alongside developers, designers, business analysts, and product owners;
• Designing, building, testing, deploying, and monitoring your solutions in Java 8;
• Embracing continuous improvement and modernization of the domain;
• Becoming an expert in specific parts of the application domain for a long-term mission;
• Mentoring peers through code reviews, pair programming, etc.;
• Collaborating with developers from other teams to improve systems and processes in a domain-driven environment.
  
  
  

Are you the perfect match?

• Proficiency in procedural programming (COBOL) is a real asset for maintaining applications migrated to Java
• Knowledge of ABAP is a strong plus
• Experience with relational databases (Db2)
• Solid object-oriented programming skills (Java 8)
• Bash scripting skills
• Experience in the insurance sector, preferably in Luxembourg/Belgium
• Experience in SAP FI is a strong asset
• Full-stack development knowledge and the ability to advocate for and justify architectural decisions
• Familiarity with continuous deployment tools (Kubernetes, Jenkins, etc.)
• Experience with Agile and Scrum/Kanban methodologies
• You stay up to date with the latest technologies
• You're proactive, a team player, and eager to learn new tech
• Familiar with version control systems like Git
• Able to work on-site in Leudelange at least 3-4 days a week
• English & French language proficiency.
