Are you an experienced and results-driven project leader ready to take on a strategic role in one of Europe’s most impactful cyber defence initiatives?

We are looking for a Consortium Lead for the CITADEL Project to coordinate a large-scale cyber defence and artificial intelligence R&D project funded by the European Defence Fund (EDF). This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of European military cyber capabilities while working at the forefront of innovation and security.

About The CITADEL Project

CITADEL is part of the European Defence Agency’s strategic research agenda and aims to:

  • Advance European cyber defence training and simulation technologies.
  • Strengthen Europe’s full-spectrum cyber defence capabilities, shifting from reactive to proactive and integrated defence strategies.
  • Support both EU and member states’ needs by focusing on military cyber defence in close cooperation with civilian stakeholders.

What would you be doing?

  • Lead and coordinate the project consortium, ensuring alignment between partners across Europe.
  • Manage the project’s overall performance (timeline, deliverables, and budget).
  • Guide and support the internal project team.
  • Act as the main liaison to the European Commission and national stakeholders.
  • Oversee the implementation of CR14’s internal project responsibilities.
  • Provide regular updates and reporting to internal leadership and relevant stakeholders.

We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in project management.
  • Preferably experience with IT and/or defence-related projects.
  • Prior involvement in managing large-scale projects (preferably €10M+).
  • Familiarity with EU-funded or similar international projects is an asset.
  • Excellent command of English (written and spoken).
  • Strong international communication and coordination skills.
  • Existing security clearance or willingness to obtain a national security clearance.
