Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior AWS Engineer to design and build highly resilient, event-driven cloud architectures. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong hands-on experience in AWS serverless services and a deep understanding of scalable, fault-tolerant design patterns. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver production-grade infrastructure, support CI/CD pipelines, and lead cloud architecture discussions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Architect and implement scalable, event-driven systems using AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and DynamoDB.
  • Build serverless applications with robust APIs, asynchronous workflows, and resilient cloud-native patterns.
  • Work around AWS service limitations (e.g., DynamoDB Global Tables) to deliver multi-region, high-durability solutions.
  • Design systems for low RTO/RPO disaster recovery, incorporating automated cross-region failover.
  • Implement observability using CloudWatch, X-Ray, and third-party monitoring tools.
  • Automate infrastructure using AWS CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
  • Optimize for cold-start latency, event retries, and orchestration efficiency in high-throughput environments.
  • Integrate infrastructure with CI/CD workflows and support secure, cost-efficient cloud deployments.
  • Mentor other engineers and contribute to best practices in cloud engineering and infrastructure resiliency.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years focused on building production systems on AWS.
  • Proficiency with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, and DynamoDB (including advanced partitioning and scaling strategies).
  • Strong backend development skills in Java, Python, Node.js, or Go.
  • Experience designing fault-tolerant, multi-region architectures with low RPO/RTO.
  • Familiarity with AWS event-driven services like SQS, SNS, EventBridge, or Kafka (MSK).
  • Experience with infrastructure as code using CDK, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
  • Solid understanding of distributed system principles, including idempotency, retries, and resilience patterns.
  • Strong communication skills and experience leading architecture discussions with technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in regulated or high-compliance environments (e.g., finance, healthcare).
  • AWS Solutions Architect Associate certification is a plus.
