Morgan Stanley are looking for an Associate level Java Developer for the SnD Team in the Institutional Equities Division of Morgan Stanley.

This group develops a number of analytical tools that are used by Sales and trading users that provide enriched sector based and stock analytics. All the tools implement technologies such as Java, HTML5 and DB2/MongoDB.

The Candidate Will

  • Be responsible for working in a team as a process-oriented person and adhering to the organizations product development standards
  • Be responsible for developing, enhancing, re-engineering & maintaining the Sales and Distribution applications.
  • Will have the opportunity to contribute to the overall design and architecture of the application developed and deployed
  • Interact with business users to understand requirements and troubleshoot issues
  • Gain an understanding of the Morgan Stanley business to facilitate communication with business users

An ideal candidate will demonstrate excitement for new technology and an eagerness to learn and should be a self-starter with strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills. They should be able to handle competing demands on time and manage their own work to deadlines. Flexibility in outlook is essential. They should be a team player and have the ability to work collaboratively with teams across geographical areas. They should have a high degree of motivation to expand their technical and business knowledge

Skills Required

  • Java (Level 4)
  • Core Java , Spring
  • Extensive experience in developing enterprise-scale n-tier applications. Should possess good architectural knowledge and be aware of enterprise application design patterns, good experience in usage of Data structures / Collections, and great programming aptitude.
  • Should have the ability to analyze, design, and develop complex, high throughput / low-latency applications
  • Levels range from 1 to 5 with '1' denoting the most basic level of competence and '5' denoting expert

Skills Desired

  • Working knowledge of Database SQL
  • Some exposure to the financial services industry is a plus
  • Strong desire to work in a fast paced front office environment.
  • Scripting languages like Perl, Python
