Lead Gameplay Programmer (World of Warships)

Job Overview

Wargaming is looking for а Lead Gameplay Programmer to work on World of Warships in our Belgrade office.

World of Warships is the best naval game around, letting you take command of legendary warships from the period of the 20th century as you battle your way across the open sea with other players. The project is driven by a team of international developers who combine talent with their passion for video games, resulting in World of Warships being a favorite hobby for millions all around the globe with keeping its community ever-growing!

Reports to

Associate Technical Director

What will you do?

• Lead own team of 2 gameplay programmers
• Develop a solution architecture for features and re-factorings
• Developing new features for different teams
• Support engine team in improvements of existing solutions
• Lead gameplay programmers union, with next responsibilities:
• Generate a common vision for gameplay programming practices and approaches
• Collaborate with game designers, UI developers, and sound designers in creating AAA user experience
• Collaborate with teams managers in planning for gameplay codebase improvements
• Participate in hiring and onboarding of new gameplay programmers o Inspire gameplay programmers to grow and help with self-development

What are we looking for?

• At least 6 years of experience in commercial development
• Good knowledge of Python
• Good knowledge of Math
• Excellent system design skills
• Good knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• Understanding of OOP
• Ability to understand other people's code
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• English – B2 and higher

What additional skills will help you stand out?

• Basic knowledge of С/С++
• Experience with game engines
