Full Stack Engineer

Barden is delighted to partner with an innovative tech start-up to support them in hiring a Software Engineer to join their growing team.

This is a unique opportunity to work on smart, data-driven software designed for a complex and globally significant industry. With a robust product already in place, the company is now focused on scaling, expanding features, and enhancing performance - and they’re looking for a talented engineer to be part of that mission.

ABOUT THE ROLE

You’ll work closely with the team to enhance the platform’s structure, security, and usability. You’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact - not only on the codebase but also on the user experience and product resilience.

Your work will focus on:

• Refactoring and cleaning up existing code
• Writing unit tests and contributing to automation testing
• Implementing validation logic and frontend controls
• Enhancing user feedback and error messaging
• Making targeted improvements across the platform to ensure a smooth, predictable, and secure user experience
• Collaborating on interactive data visualisation features and improving frontend UX (e.g. integrating user feedback into BI tools or calculations)

CORE REQUIREMENTS

Cloud Experience

• Experience optimising, securing, and deploying to the cloud
• Ideally Azure, but people with AWS or GCP experience are also welcome

Frontend Experience

• Experience with frontend validation and automated testing
• Exposure to interactive graphing and data visualisation (e.g. enabling user input to feed into backend calculations or BI dashboards)
• Ability to contribute meaningfully to improving overall frontend UX

Cybersecurity Awareness

• Understanding of modern application security best practices
• Experience applying secure coding standards and addressing vulnerabilities in both backend and frontend code

Tech Snapshot

• Language: Python (core stack)
• Frameworks: Flask or Django preferred; flexible as long as you bring strong API/web app experience
• Cloud: Azure preferred; AWS/GCP backgrounds welcome
• DevOps: CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and cloud security
• Data & APIs: SQL, SQLAlchemy, API design and development
• Frontend: Some involvement; backend-focused with increasing UX impact

ABOUT YOU

• 4-6 years of experience in backend development using Python
• Strong track record of writing clean, testable, maintainable code
• Hands-on experience with cloud security and optimisation
• Experience building and testing frontend features, including validation and interactivity
• Practical understanding of user flows, edge cases, and meaningful error handling
• Comfortable working in a collaborative, agile environment
• Bonus: Experience in finance, fintech, mathematics, or statistical domains
