About the Role

This Junior Network Security Engineer role involves overseeing, managing, and advising customers on our product and service offerings. Additionally, you will conduct Change Management, Incident Resolution, ensuring adherence to security protocols, and maintaining 99.99% gateway availability for our customers. This role requires working 12-hour day and night shifts on a 24/7 roster. The roster is similar to a 5-days-on, 5-days-off schedule. This is an exciting opportunity for entry level IT engineers, or those seasoned in networking and want the larger range of experience working in a gateway environment.

Responsibilities

• Change Management, including the preparation and implementation of Changes on a number of Gateway Device configurations – routers, firewalls, proxy's DNS servers and load Balancers.
• Incident Resolution will require you to work with our customers to troubleshoot/diagnose un-intended network traffic issues.
• Monitor and action Health Alerts generated.
• Performing a Service Desk type function, consisting of the allocation and prioritization of tickets based on SLA.
• Managing internal and external communications.
• Responding to customer requests via email/phone calls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or one or more years of relevant work experience.
• One or more years’ experience in an IT/Networking or similar role.
• One or more years’ experience working with Linux, DNS, Firewalls, F5, VMware, Proxies and Email Gateway appliances.
• NV1 Security clearance or eligibility to maintain.
• Willingness to work on 24x7 rotating shift schedule, including weekends/public holidays.

Preferred Skills

• Previous experience working on Secure Internet Gateway environments.
• Relevant Industry certifications - Cisco, Checkpoint, Juniper, Palo Alto, Bluecoat, ITIL.
• Experience and knowledge in AWS.
• Understanding of various Coding and Scripting languages.
• Experience in Automation.
• Experience and Knowledge of Visual Studio and Code Commit.
• Understanding of Gitlab.

Implement security controls developed by the business to mitigate risk during the development lifecycle.

• Analyzes new networking solutions, identifies potential security concerns, recommend approaches that can be used to mitigate identified risks, and works with technology teams to implement recommendations.
• Implement tools and programs developed by senior staff to improve the security analysis process within the business.
• Keeps up to date on emerging security technologies and solutions.
• Provides client support, escalating consultation and information security subject matter expertise to senior members.
• Review provided requirements, design, code, test, implement, and support secure applications and solutions while maintaining knowledge of various programming languages, data analytics and automation tools.
• Works under supervision to Implement security controls developed by the business to mitigate risk during the development lifecycle.
