Senior Machine Learning Engineer (NLP/LLM)

I am working with a very exciting, incredibly well backed, start up, Biotech company with offices in Amsterdam and Zurich. They are looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to join their exciting team.

They are at the cutting edge of medical AI innovation, where you'll help shape products that empower clinicians to make faster, more informed decisions. I am looking for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to lead the development of advanced AI solutions from concept through validation.

In this role, you’ll collaborate with a cross-functional team of ML researchers, software engineers, UX designers, and healthcare professionals. You'll contribute to projects with real-world impact, helping to transform the future of healthcare.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate complex clinical needs into innovative, practical NLP/LLM product ideas.
• Build state-of-the-art LLM applications for healthcare using approaches such as fine-tuning, prompt engineering, or retrieval-augmented generation, tailored to each use case.
• Design and maintain scalable pipelines for processing large volumes of unstructured clinical text, transforming it into instruction data suitable for fine-tuning and evaluating LLMs.
• Lead rigorous experimentation and continuous iteration to ensure AI solutions are safe, trustworthy, and effective in clinical environments.

Experience

• You have 4+ years of hands-on experience in machine learning, natural language processing, or a closely related field.
• You're skilled at translating research into real-world applications, bridging the gap between prototyping and scalable, production-ready systems.
• You're driven by a passion for building AI solutions that deliver meaningful value in clinical environments.
