Reporting to the Manager Software Engineering, the Junior Backend Software Engineer is responsible for working closely together with developers to write clean, maintainable and efficient code in Java to support various functionalities in WebCenter.

WebCenter is a unique and powerful web-based platform that manages all complexities of creating the packaging you find in supermarkets, pharmacies, etc.

The Backend Junior Software Engineer will be located in Ghent or Prague.

In this role, a typical day will look like:

• Develop and maintain robust software in your scrum team, making sure it meets all the functional and non-functional requirements
• Innovate and develop new product concepts as part of a team
• Participate in peer code reviews
• Stay up to date on software technology, tools and competing products
• Exchange technical information with your colleagues
• Follow and help optimizing installed processes, policies and procedure
  
  
  

The essential requirements of the job include:

• You hold a bachelor's or master’s degree in computer science, informatics or you can prove comparable skills through experience.
• You are proficient in Java
• Knowledge of J2EE, Cloud technologies (AWS), databases or web application security is a plus.
• You are proficient in spoken and written English. Any other language is appreciated.
