Head of DevOps

The main department is responsible for system and software engineering in the newly aligned Multi Domain Solutions (MDS) division.

To strengthen our Software Center, we are looking for a committed individual to elevate the modernization and automation of our development and deployment processes to the next level as a DevOps Lead/Architect. As Head of DevOps, you will be responsible for building and scaling the newly established DevOps team.

Your Responsibilities:

• Establishing, scaling, and continuously developing a secure and scalable DevOps architecture
• Responsibility for CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and automated test environments in safety-critical development settings
• Close collaboration with software architects, systems engineers, and cybersecurity experts to implement DevSecOps principles
• Selection, integration, and operation of modern DevOps tools and platforms (e.g., GitLab, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Terraform, Ansible)
• Promoting a DevOps culture and agile working methods within the software development department
• Coaching and technical leadership of an interdisciplinary DevOps team
• Supporting audits and ensuring compliance requirements are met
• Designing and implementing a “North Star” strategy for software-defined defense based on container technologies and microservices

Your Profile:

• Degree in computer science, software engineering, engineering, or comparable qualification
• Several years of professional experience in a DevOps environment, ideally in safety-critical sectors (e.g., defense, aerospace, automotive)
• Deep understanding of modern software architectures, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud-related infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD, GitOps, infrastructure as code, and monitoring solutions
• Knowledge of security standards (e.g., ITAR, ISO 27001, SLS, Common Criteria) is an advantage
• Leadership experience or strong aptitude for lateral leadership in technical teams
• Hands-on mentality combined with strategic thinking and a high degree of ownership
• Fluent in German and English (written and spoken)
