Research Assistant Position with Opportunity to Develop a PhD Project in Precision Medicine
The Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre (BMC) invites you to join the Translational Omics Group, led by Prof. Jānis Kloviņš. Our group is one of the leading research units in Latvia, conducting high-level interdisciplinary studies in personalized medicine, genomics, microbiome, and metabolic diseases.
We offer an opportunity to start a scientific career by combining work with doctoral studies at one of the biomedical programs provided by Latvian Universities and developing a PhD project within a dynamic and growth-oriented team.
About the Research Group
The Translational Omics Group uses state-of-the-art genetics, microbiome, clinical research methods, and data analysis technologies. Research is conducted in close collaboration with medical institutions, utilizing the Genome Database of the Latvian Population and biological sample collections. The group's main focus is on biomarker discovery to promote disease prevention and more effective treatment. The group implements numerous international projects and actively collaborates with foreign institutions.
Candidate Requirements:
● Master’s degree or equivalent in biology, biomedicine, life sciences, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or a related field;
● Willingness to enroll in a doctoral study program and develop an academic career;
● Ability to independently organize work and solve problems;
● Accuracy, responsibility, and genuine interest in science;
● Laboratory or data analysis experience is preferred.
Previous experience with patient recruitment, flow cytometry, Oxford Nanopore sequencing platform, single-cell RNA-seq, Luminex, metabolome analysis, bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data, and statistical data analysis will be considered an advantage.
Responsibilities:
● Participate in study planning and data collection;
● Prepare samples and conduct molecular analyses;
● Process and analyze genetic and phenotypic data;
● Maintain documentation of experiments;
● Communicate with partners and contribute to scientific publication preparation.
