Room 8 Studio is looking for a Lighting Artist with expertise in Unreal Engine. As a Lighting Artist, you will be responsible for enhancing the lighting in games to create atmosphere and add realism, tone, and depth to scenes. Your work will help emphasize the drama or narrative, as well as establish and clarify the location, weather, and time of day.
You will need to leverage both your technical skills and aesthetic judgment to produce images that not only look impressive but are also efficient to render. It is essential that you reference the relevant production designs and apply that visual style as accurately as possible, ensuring continuity throughout the scene and across the game.

Superpowers
you have are
- 3+ years of game development experience, including lighting a variety of in-game environments;
- Experience working through an entire production cycle and previously shipping AAA PC or console titles in a similar role;
- A portfolio or demo reel that demonstrates a keen eye for detail and the ability to use light, shadow, and color to create a variety of tones and moods;
- Understanding of Unreal Engine rendering pipeline, real-time lighting techniques and shading;
- Intermediate+ level of English proficiency, both written and spoken, for smooth communication and documentation.

- Familiar with 3ds Max, Maya, Photoshop, and 3rd party lighting tools;
- Understands source control with Perforce, SVN, or the equivalent;
- Understanding of Unity rendering pipelines (or any other custom engine);
- Experience in a full pipeline development of 3D art from concept to integration into the engine.

- Create lighting that matches color keys and concept art, ensuring an understanding of lighting aesthetics to maintain consistency with the defined visual style for the game;
- Develop and manage all aspects of lighting, including dynamic, prebaked, and both interior and exterior setups.
- Ensure a balance between visual quality and performance requirements for real-time game applications;
- Participate in R&D of new techniques to implement into a production pipeline;
- Develop pipelines and create technical guides;
- Work with art leads and designers to create compelling lighting for various environments while ensuring a consistent style throughout the game.
