Job Title: Engineering Project Manager (Technical Lead)

Location: Bern, Switzerland

Duration: 12 Months

Work Hours: 41 hours/week

On-Site/Remote: Primarily on-site with up to 40% flexibility for home office

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager (Technical Lead) to support CAPEX project execution in a GMP-regulated environment. The successful candidate will lead technical coordination across cross-functional teams and ensure all deliverables meet internal standards and regulatory expectations. This role is crucial in driving project success through effective communication, risk management, and technical oversight.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary technical contact for cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
  • Lead and conduct technical risk assessments (e.g., FMEA) and design reviews.
  • Author and review project documentation including URS, URB, and project descriptions.
  • Align supplier deliverables with internal engineering and quality standards.
  • Ensure project compliance with cGMP and EU Annex 1 standards.
  • Represent technical functions in cross-functional workshops and project meetings.
  • Coordinate technical development of solutions to ensure equipment and process compliance.
  • Support plant shutdown activities: preparation, execution, and follow-up evaluations.
  • Provide technical guidance to operators and support shop floor training initiatives.
  • Maintain a strong on-site presence for coordination with flexibility for home office (up to 40%).

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in technical project execution in GMP-regulated industries (pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences).
  • Languages: Fluent in English and German (spoken and written).
  • Strong understanding of cGMP, EU Annex 1, FMEA methodologies, and engineering documentation.
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and technical troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Consistently wear and maintain prescribed protective equipment.
  • Actively eliminate or report safety hazards and risks.
  • Available to support on-site shutdowns and technical shop floor needs as required.
