Your new role

This role will involve front end web development that adheres to the latest web standards and that visualises gridded and point data in user-friendly interfaces tailored toward bandwidth-limited environments (as many users may not have access to high-speed internet).

Back-end development will also be required to handle the uploading and management of gridded and point based climate data that are stored in multiple file formats.

What you'll need to succeed

• Demonstrated working knowledge and experience in responsive design, development and coding of web applications using a variety of Open Source and Commercial technologies, particularly Linux (Ubuntu), PostgreSQL, Python, PHP, HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Experience with Amazon Web Services, Apache, Bootstrap, Leaflet and High charts advantageous.
• Experience in coding, building, testing and deploying software onto AWS, as well as with containerisation (e.g. Docker)
• Experience with multi-dimensional geophysical data, especially climate or weather data in the netCDF file format, will be highly advantageous.
• Sound inter-personal skills are required, and the ability to liaise with a range of different personnel from within the organisation.
• Demonstrated team working skills and experience of working in a team framework are essential.
• Demonstrated time management skills and self-motivation, and the ability to work autonomously and in a team environment with minimal supervision to meet deadlines.
