IT Infrastructure Specialist

We are looking for an IT Infrastructure Officer to take charge of our IT environment and support the operational needs of our growing organization. This role combines hands-on technical work with strategic planning to ensure a secure, efficient, and scalable IT infrastructure that supports both current needs and future growth.

As IT Infrastructure Officer, you will oversee internal systems, manage networks and data storage, and collaborate with external service providers when needed. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations, reliable access to data, and effective IT support across the organization.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing and maintaining IT infrastructure, including network systems, storage solutions, and cybersecurity.
• Ensuring the smooth operation of Microsoft SharePoint and Windows-based IT environments.
• Implementing secure solutions for internal and external data sharing.
• Enforcing IT security policies, access controls, and cybersecurity measures.
• Developing backup and disaster recovery strategies, as well as business continuity plans.
• Providing day-to-day support for IT hardware, software, and user-related issues.
• Managing IT onboarding and offboarding for employees.
• Assessing and optimizing our network architecture for future scalability.
• Working with scientific teams to develop data storage solutions for large imaging and RNA sequencing datasets.
• Evaluating and balancing cloud and on-premises storage solutions to meet performance, cost, and compliance requirements.
• Supporting the integration of Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
• Understanding internal IT needs and delivering tailored solutions.
• Managing software licenses and IT inventory.
• Coordinating with external IT partners for infrastructure and cybersecurity support.

What we’re looking for:

• A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience in IT infrastructure management or system administration.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Windows server environments.
• Experience with network infrastructure, firewalls, VPNs, and security best practices.
• Familiarity with high-volume data storage systems, particularly for scientific data.
• Experience working with external IT vendors and managing service contracts.
• Strong problem-solving skills, a proactive mindset, and analytical thinking.
• Excellent communication skills in English; German is a plus.
• Flexibility with working hours, including the ability to support outside regular business hours when needed.
