Senior Project Manager

Location: Hammerfest, Norway

Years of Experience: Minimum 20 years' experience as project manager

Responsibilities:

 As Project Manager for a major mining project in Norway, you will be responsible for the overall delivery of the project from feasibility through detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. You will lead cross-functional teams, ensure compliance with Norwegian regulations, and uphold the highest standards in sustainability, safety, and performance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Promote a strong safety culture across the project.
• Champion environmentally responsible mining practices in alignment with Norway’s climate and sustainability goals.
• Provide strategic leadership across all phases of the mining project lifecycle.
• Ensure alignment with company objectives, local regulations, and sustainability standards.
• Lead the development and execution of project plans, budgets, and schedules in accordance with best practices and corporate requirements.
• Manage integrated Engineering, Procurement, and Construction activities to deliver the project on time and within budget.
• Ensure full compliance with Norwegian mining, environmental, and HSE legislation.
• Oversee contract negotiation, execution, and performance monitoring for EPCM and subcontracted services.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and technical risks proactively.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing team of engineers, project managers, and construction specialists.
• Foster collaboration with local partners and consultants to support knowledge transfer and regional capacity building.
• Provide transparent reporting on project KPIs (cost, schedule, safety, environment) to internal leadership.
• Monitor project performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications – Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mining, Civil, Mechanical, or related discipline).
• Minimum 20 years of experience in large-scale mining, industrial or heavy civil construction.
• Proven track record as a Project Manager or Project Director leading EPC or EPCM projects valued at several hundred million USD or more.
• Direct experience with mining projects in Scandinavia or similar regulatory environments is a strong asset.
• Solid understanding of engineering, procurement, and construction processes in the mining sector.
• Familiarity with Norwegian mining and environmental regulations, permitting processes, and HSE standards.
• Proficient in project controls (cost, schedule, risk), contract management, and reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams, including engineering consultants, contractors, and client representatives.
• Strong stakeholder management skills.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Proficiency in Norwegian (or another Scandinavian language) is highly preferred.
• Eligibility to work in Norway.
• Willingness to be based at the project site or travel frequently within Norway as required.
