Title Infrastructure Security Analyst Job Status Temporary Full Time (Exempt) Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Infrastructure Security Analyst to join our dynamic Information Technology team. The opportunity is a temporary full time role for approximately two (2) years.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager, IT Security, you will play a critical role in securing the City’s network and cloud infrastructure. You will be responsible for monitoring and protecting our hybrid IT environment, deploying and managing advanced security tools (including SIEM, NDR/XDR, IDS/IPS, Password manager), conducting vulnerability assessments, managing patching activities and reviewing logs to detect abnormal activities and potential threats.
You will provide technical expertise in incident response and forensic investigations, including scanning impacted devices for evidence of compromise, analyzing logs for abnormal login attempts, signs of data theft and lateral movement. Additionally, you will manage EDR tools, oversee email filtering security and conduct cybersecurity training and awareness initiatives.
Requirements
Your academic credentials include a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline, supplemented by relevant industry certifications (CISSP, GIAC, CISSP, CCSP, Security+, CEH), or an equivalent combination of education and hands-on experience. You possess strong technical skills in network security technologies (firewalls, VPN, IDS/IPS), cloud security platforms (Azure, AWS, M365), and log analysis methodologies. Proficiency with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF and CIS benchmarks, as well as scripting and automation (PowerShell) will be advantageous.
You are recognized for your analytical and problem-solving abilities, exceptional documentation skills, and effective communication across technical and non-technical audiences. Previous experience managing infrastructure security, responding to security incidents and conducting penetration tests would be significant assets.
During the recruitment process, applicants will be required to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).
Compensation
We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $92,712.00 – $109,056.00 annually (2024 rates). Salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity.
Hours of Work
Occasional overtime is expected in this role to address unexpected threat responses. Overtime is compensated as outlined in our Officers and Officials Bylaw, 2013, No. 8322.
