One of our Federal Government Clients is seeking to engage a Senior Cyber Security Analyst - APS6. This is a long-term contractual position.

Position Description:
The Cyber Threat and Vulnerability Management Section (CVT) within DFAT's Information Management and Technology Division, has a requirement for a labour hire resource to undertake the role of Cyber Vulnerability Analyst to deliver vulnerability management and patching prioritisation at a scale and pace necessary to meet all customer requirements. The analyst resource will enable CVT to pursue delivery of the following additional priority service objectives:
- Enriched vulnerability assessment.
- Misconfiguration vulnerability identification.
- Input to vulnerability remediation assurance activities.
- Enhanced ability to pre-empt and manage end-of-life vulnerabilities.
Key duties and responsibilities
CVT produce strategic, operational & tactical intelligence about cyber threat and vulnerabilities for consumption by the Chief Information Security Officer and Cyber Security, Cloud and Networks Branch. Client's operations introduce unique threats and unique vulnerability management challenges. As a Vulnerability Analyst in CVT, you’ll be responsible for identifying cyber vulnerabilities that exist within the DFAT environment. You’ll work in lock step with CVT’s cyber threat intelligence team to conduct analysis and enriched intelligence about the vulnerabilities and the risk they pose to the department. Using your strong technical expertise and knowledge of vulnerability management, you’ll work with technical stakeholders and system owners to find and prioritise ways to remediate these risks. The work you do will help to minimise the department’s cyber attack surface, strengthen defensive capabilities, and ultimately protect one of the Australian Government’s most targeted internet-connected networks.
Technical skills:
Experience with vulnerability and attack surface scanning tools such as Tenable and other cyber security tools including SIEMs.
About the team:
The Cyber Security, Cloud and Networks Branch (CRB), led by Client's Chief Information Security Officer, is responsible for protecting the department’s computer network from cyber threats. The Cyber Threat and Vulnerability Management Section’s (CVT) mission is to deliver cyber threat intelligence as well as cyber vulnerability management to support Client's cyber defensive capabilities. Our team identifies and tracks the cyber threats to our and leverage that information to prioritise remediation of vulnerabilities to counter the capabilities of those who might seek to target the department’s network.
Essential Criteria:
- Previous experience in cyber vulnerability management, preferably in a large organisation with a complex ICT environment.
- Experience in a Cyber Analyst role with an ability to work independently with an analytical and inquisitive mindset. Able to gather information about technological vulnerabilities and using that information to conduct a risk assessment specific to the vulnerability as it exists within an ICT environment.
- Previous Tenable IO/SC experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts in a concise manner to audiences with varied levels of technical expertise. This includes writing vulnerability assessment reports and liaising with stakeholders to prioritise vulnerability remediation.
Desirable Criteria:
- Previous experience working in or alongside cyber threat intelligence functions, including conducting threat modelling and contributing to red team exercises.
- Past federal or state government experience.
