Job Description

The Java Platform Group is responsible for developing features and enhancements for the Java programming language. The Serviceability team within this group is responsible for developing features which make it easier to triage, troubleshoot, monitor and optimize Java applications. These features encompass a wide range of technologies including the JVM Tools Interface (JVMTI), Java Debugger Interface (JDI), Java Management Extensions (JMX), Serviceability Agent, Attach Framework, and a host of tools supporting JVM profiling, monitoring and management. We work closely with the Compiler, Runtime, and GC teams to collaborate on new feature design and development.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of the Java Serviceability team, you will be responsible for the design and development of new Serviceability features and for ensuring quality across multiple Java release trains, working in collaboration with other internal Oracle teams and the OpenJDK community to provide support for emerging Java technologies. You will provide maintenance of current Serviceability features and design new features that help keep Java vibrant.

Qualifications

• Functional knowledge of the Java language and of the JVM, including garbage collection mechanics, classloaders, byte-code instrumentation, and idiomatic Java programming
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering or the equivalent
• Strong hands-on design and development experience in Java development
• Experience in native development
• Experience in multi-platform development
• Experience in C/C++ coding
• Ability to create proof of concepts, code prototypes to showcase improvements.
